Release notes for Textmode on Mac
This page describes what Textmode adds to CotEditor 7.1.0, the version it is built on (see Textmode and CotEditor).
Textmode 1.0
New features
- Closing an untitled window keeps its text in Closed Drafts instead of asking where to save it. Choose File > Reopen Closed Draft to get it back. You can turn this off in Settings > General.
- Code folding by indentation for every syntax and for plain text: click the arrows in the line number area, or choose View > Code Folding.
- File > Bring Over CotEditor Settings copies your CotEditor themes, syntaxes, replacement definitions, keyboard shortcuts and settings.
- New default themes: Tidy and Tidy (Dark).
Performance
- Typing stays quick in very large documents and in very long lines, such as JSON or minified code on one line.
- Find highlights only the matches on screen while you type, and Find Next no longer searches the whole document before selecting the next match.
- Documents of a gigabyte or more open faster and use much less memory.
Changes
- A line longer than 32,768 characters is laid out in pieces of about 16,000 characters, so it shows an extra line break about every 16,000 characters. The text itself is not changed.
